Although It Was A Little Windy

Although it was a little windy yesterday morning, it was a beautiful day for a school opening.

The official ribbon-cutting and naming ceremony for the Jack H. Skirball Middle School took place in Los Angeles.

I handled the event photography for one of my clients, ALLIANCE College-Ready Public Schools.

Mark Savage's Celebrity Photos Featured At Corbis

I’m fortunate that I can syndicate my celebrity event photos and portraits with a photo agency such as Corbis.

This past week, Corbis honored me with a spotlight by featuring some two dozen of my finest images taken over the past 4-5 years. From Corbis:

"Los Angeles based contributing photographer Mark Savage captures celebrities on the red carpet. His coverage spans from awards shows, film premieres and press tours. His technique includes finding celebrities in special moments and always looking their best."

Choosing a handful of photos from my archive of over 10,000 must not have been an easy task. Many thanks to Corbis entertainment editor Jenna Petrie- you are appreciated!

Keith Richards at Spike TV's Scream 2009 Awards

Saturday night wrapped up a busy week for Mark Savage Photography. After a four-day corporate gig with luxury watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre and shooting executive headshots on Friday for my client, Crowell & Moring, I spent Saturday night at the Greek Theatre where the Spike TV's Scream 2009 Awards were held. I shot a mix of corporate sponsorship and red carpet arrivals for one of the agencies I syndicate my celebrity photos, Picture Group.

It was more than cool to see Keith Richards on the red carpet. I’d rather photograph him in concert, but hey... I can’t complain.

Which got me thinking- 11 years. Eleven years since I last photographed Keith when I shot the Rolling Stones at the Stade de France just outside of Paris in 1998.

Here’s a photo(taken with actual film!) from that tour, but it was shot the previous year when the Stones played Los Angeles in 1997.

I'm heading down to Orange County on Monday to photograph a new client, and then back to Hollywood for a premiere.

More posts to come.

Sunrise in Beverly Hills

Yesterday was the last day of a four day corporate shoot with my client Jaeger-LeCoultre at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Now I’m running off to downtown Los Angeles for a couple of executive headshots.

These Watches Are Extraordinary

There have been many amazing watches showcased this week at Jaeger-LeCoultre's Master Class 2009 held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. As Jaeger-LeCoultre's event photographer, I've been photographing timepieces all week long that I can really only describe as extraordinary pieces of art. This watch, for example, is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2.  And if I remember correctly, only 75 of these watches exist and they sell for roughly $350,000 each.

Thanks Tony!

My good friend Tony Austin designed my masthead. He's an amazing artist and a terrific friend. Thanks again, Tony -much appreciated.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog! I'm Mark Savage. Now I know how a writer feels when he begins a novel and has that blank page staring back at him...

A little about me. I'm a people photographer. I began shooting professionally in the early 80's. And as the bio says, I photograph a lot of Hollywood celebrities, awards shows and movie premieres, weddings, corporate photography and convention events, executive headshots and portraits.

Where am I going with this blog? Well, I've got some ideas- some specific and others vague. How often will I post? Hard to say- randomly and frequently I would expect.

More later. Right now, I have photos to take. I have a 4-day corporate shoot with watch maker, Jaeger-leCoultre. http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/
