From The Archive- Actress Rachel Miner

Lateral thinking. I get an email from my friend Johnny from Pennsylvania. We met in 2007 when I was in Tulsa covering the Tulsarama time capsule opening of a 1957 Belvedere. I should post some of those pictures one of these days- great stuff. Anyway, remembering the photographer Larry Clark and his 1971 documentary, “Tulsa” which was such a ground breaking piece of work influencing both photographers and movie directors alike.  I love the movie Clark directed, Bully (2001). I’ve seen it several times. A great ensemble: Brad Renfro, Nick Stahl, Bijou Phillips, Rachel Miner – and such a fine performance by Rachel Miner. She has a striking presence. Do I have a photo of her?? Yes…

Actress Drew Barrymore At The Golden Globes

© MARK SAVAGE/CORBIS
Whether I’m photographing a bride at her wedding or a celebrity on the red carpet, I find I’m more often capturing “nice seconds” rather than nice moments. Such was the case when I photographed the quick glances of the lovely Drew Barrymore at the HBO after party for the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards. Miss Barrymore won the Golden Globe for her work in the HBO mini-series Grey Gardens.

I came across a really, really good psychobilly band the other night. Visiting Los Angeles from Pennsylvania, The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns played a gig at The Cat Club on Sunset. These guys are super tight. Here’s a link to their myspace page that also has a calendar of the upcoming performances in CA.

Shock! Kathy Griffin Swears Live On CNN NYE

I was going to wait until Monday before I resumed blogging, but I couldn't resist this funny news item. And while it's January 2, there are still well over 300 news outlets/blogs reporting on Kathy Griffin cussing the second year in a row during the CNN's NYE live broadcast with co-host Anderson Cooper from Times Square.

What cracks me up is the network response. From the Washington Post

...The network said in a statement Friday that it "regrets that profanity was used during our New Year's Eve coverage."...

C'mon... although we all know they have to say this publicly, we also know CNN is loving the ratings/publicity/web hits.

Will CNN be fined? My guess is no. Will Griffin return next year same place, same time to co-host with Anderson Cooper? My guess is yes. Will Kathy Griffin cuss again? Of course.
