Cute Dog Photos! Uggie From 'The Artist' Honored With "Hand Paw Print" Ceremony At Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Uggie, the unbelievably cute dog from the movie 'The Artist' which won an Academy Award for Best Picture, was immortalized yesterday with a "hand and paw" print ceremony(hands... feet... paws... dogs are people, too... aren't they??) at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Here's a nice selection of event photos. Pictured with Uggie is owner/trainer Omar von Muller, Rin Tin Tin, and Lassie. Syndicated with Corbis Images. © Mark Savage

My Portrait of Ray Bradbury

I photographed Ray Bradbury at his home in Los Angeles for the Los Angeles Reader Magazine in 1996. While setting up my photo equipment in his backyard, I remember seeing this space seemingly carved out of a wall to his house. I suggested that he stand there for the photo shoot which he thought was a terrific idea.

Executive Portraits in Los Angeles & Orange County With a Green Screen Backdrop

One of my current projects is taking portraits of attorneys for the prestigious law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP in Orange County and Los Angeles.

As the firm will be inserting their own unique backdrop for all of the executive portraits, I’m photographing the attorneys in front of a green screen. I’m using a 9 foot Superior Seamless Paper #54 Stinger Chroma Key Green Compatible.

The set-up is actually pretty simple: I pose the subject about 5-6 feet in front of the backdrop with the background lights behind them. The distance from the backdrop and the lights guarantees no shadows on the backdrop and no green color bounce. I make sure the exposures are same for the people and the backdrop.

Here is the link to the firm’s website:

Examples of Executive Headshots Photographed by Mark Savage in Los Angeles and Orange County

I've been taking executive portraits for over 20 years. Here's a promo with examples of executive headshots photographed onsite in Los Angeles and Orange County.
                                                                                                                                             © Mark Savage
I use studio lighting with your choice of backdrop. The set-up of photo equipment takes about 20 minutes. An average conference room or office is all the space that is needed.

The actual photo session only takes a few minutes.

Approximately 12-15 hi-res photos will be yours to keep. You'll be able to view and download your photos to your computer the next day.

Expert photoshop retouching is available.

Major credit cards are accepted.

A Photo of My Lighting Equipment on a Portrait Headshot Assignment

As I was about to take an environmental portrait and an executive headshot down in Orange County today, I thought I would take a quick photo with my iPhone of my lighting equipment. I had set up my Photoflex softbox and a couple of umbrellas in my client's lobby. I've been photographing these type of assignments in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Orange County for many years, but I almost never photograph the space I'm shooting in.
I do like the furniture...very cool. I love the red.

A Very Cool Swimming Picture

I really like this photo of a swimmer swimming butterfly. I shot it at a recent meet in Long Beach. I caught her just as she was just coming up from her dive. It was an indoor meet- 300/2.8, 1/1000, at iso 2500.
